Recovering sunken French equipment in collaboration with the Ministry of Defence

Fendercare demonstrates world-class offshore capabilities during complex salvage operation.

Working alongside sister company JFD, in January 2011, Fendercare recovered a 14m, 175T catenary anchor leg mooring (CALM) buoy together with four anchors and over 5km of chain from the seabed off the coast of Toulon, France.

The £2 million project, coordinated through the Salvage and Marine Operations (S&MO) team of the UK Ministry of Defence (MOD), demonstrated the extensive range of services Fendercare is able to offer especially with the support of other James Fisher Group companies. Following the recovery part of the operation, for example, Remotely Operated Vehicles were used to undertake a full seabed survey to ensure all residual debris was cleared.

Throughout the operation, Fendercare implemented strict safety procedures, helping to underscore the valued relationship it has developed with the MOD.
