Upgrading the French Navy’s mooring buoys

Fendercare’s modern mooring buoys reduce maintenance costs and improve safety.

In November 2009, Fendercare designed and supplied the Marine Nationale (French Navy) with elastomer mooring buoys to replace their existing stock.

The ten, 12T cylindrically-shaped mooring buoys Fendercare supplied were manufactured from a core of closed cell polythene foam (density 35kg/cu.m.) encapsulated with a 15mm thick orange polythene elastomer skin making them highly durable and easy to maintain.

Supplied with a non-slip deck on the top surface as well as handrails, the new buoys allowed for safer access and replaced extremely fatigued steel mooring buoys, some of which were beyond repair, and the rest of which required significant and expensive maintenance.
